Brake for the Princess City and we will show you a great time!
This is the first time Pocahontas has been on the RAGBRAI route and we want to welcome all the riders and their support crews to our beautiful town. Stop by the Information Booth at Pocahontas Ford and get a map of all the vendors and activities. That is also the place to get your feathers for your helmets!
Do the "Hoky Poky"
Need to get some kinks out after riding the 34 miles from Storm Lake? Stop by the Hoky Poky Stage and do the Hoky Poky in Poky with the Poky Area High School Show Choir – shake it all about!!
Climb Mt. Pocahontas
Even though this is the flattest RAGBRAI route, we have a 25 foot cliff in the middle of Pocahontas. The National Guard rock-climbing wall will be here to try your hand (or foot) at scaling the cliff and ringing the bell!
Dunk a Poky Wrestler
Have you got a team member that isn’t carrying their load? Put them on the hot seat at the Wrestler’s Dunk Tank! A little friendly competition between teams is welcome! Or try your hand at dunking one of our wrestlers!
Sample Sizzling Sounds and a Super-Sized Slip & Slide!
We have music all the way down Main Street and a giant slip and slide on the courthouse lawn.
Add a Name to the Veterans Memorial
Don’t miss the Veterans Memorial at the end of Main Street. Veterans Affairs will have a board set up for all Veterans riding RAGBRAI to sign. It will be alongside the Memorial that has 2720 engraved names and was dedicated June 23, 2007. This beautiful monument is in honor and memory of all Pocahontas County men and women who served our nation, protecting our freedom.
They will have a canister out for donations towards the expense of the WWII honor flights to Washington. These flights take WWII veterans to Washington DC so they can see and experience the WWII monument that honors all who gave the ultimate sacrifice of laying their life down for our freedom.
Take Home an Official "Brake for the Princess City" T-shirt
Buy your RAGBRAI T-shirts on Main Street! They will be located on the Poky Ford parking lot in a 5th wheel camper. Shipping will be available.

Wrestlers Dunk Tank
The PAC/PP wrestlers have a goal - they are trying to earn the $20,000 needed to purchase new wrestling mats and wall mats for their wrestling room. This isn't just a spruce up - some of the mats currently in use are 30 years old. As wrestling mats age, they crack and become hard. When you have a quick take down and a wrestler comes down on their knees, they are risking a career ending injury. The mats in the PAC/PP wrestling room are at that point. The wall mats in the practice room are currently 4 feet tall instead of 5 or 6 feet which are the only size manufactured now for safety's sake.
The wrestlers, and wrestling program are motivated to raise the money it will take for safety upgrades of their practice facility. All youth through high school wrestlers in the program will benefit tremendously from this project!
They will have a dunk tank - 3 balls for $2 and if a cycling team wants to put a teammate on the hot seat they are welcome to do it. So stop by the dunk tank and support our wrestlers!
Veterans Memorial
Veterans Affairs will have a board set up for all Veterans riding RAGBRAI to sign. It will be along side the Memorial that has 2720 engraved names and was dedicated on June 23, 2007. The monument is in honor and memory of all Pocahontas County men and women who served our nation, protecting our freedom. They will be selling commemorative pins for $2 and coins for $7 and will have a Brushy Creek Honor flight canister out for donations towards the expense of the WWII honor flights to Washington. These flights take WWII veterans to Washington DC so they can see and experience the WWII monument that honors all who gave the ultimate sacrifice of laying their life down for our freedom.
Rock Climbing
The National Guard Rock Climbing wall will accommodate 2 climbers in their attempt to scale the 25 foot wall and ring the bell at the top. Anyone age 15 and up is invited to tackle this challenge. The National Guard shares their climbing wall as a service to the communities they serve.
Slip N Slide
The Pocahontas Fire Department will have their hoses hooked up to create a giant slip 'n slide for RAGBRAI riders. They will have a donation jar out and the funds will be used to purchase equipment for the all-volunteer department. Look for them on the Courthouse Lawn.
Giant Kaleidoscope
Leonard Olson, the kaleidoscope guy, has a giant kaleidoscope and it will be at Pocahontas Pharmacy. It is a great opportunity to see what you would look like from the other end of the kaleidoscope. Bring your camera!
